Understanding Web Hosting in Simple Terms

In order to have a business online today, you must have a website. It’s expected that any business you deal with (in the offline world) is expected to have a website. If you expect to have an online business, a website is part of the price of admission. For many people, it’s a huge barrier to entry for starting an online business. Just the thought of having a website sends terror chills through the average non-technical person and can become a huge barrier to entry.

It doesn’t have to be that way. I’m going to help change that. Starting now.

If you think that having a website and all the technical stuff that goes with it is scary, fear not. We are going to eat that big scary elephant one bite at a time. The is the motivation for my first report I will be offering (for free, of course) on Mobile Lifestyle Design. I’m going to start at the beginning. There will be no jumping off in the deep end. This report (and the others that follow) will explain things in simple terms – in plain English.

The first hurdle we are going to cover is website hosting. Before you can have a website of your own on the Internet, you have to have a place to host it. Here’s what I have planned to cover, and where I need your help:

  • Breaking down all of the mystery that hosting providers try to lure you in with. What all the big numbers mean (more isn’t always better) in those hosting plans.
  • What the real differences in all of those plans, and which ones aren’t really a deal when you think you are getting one.
  • The deciding factor that will determine which hosting provider and hosting plan is right for you.
  • Destroying all the hype and up sells that you’re probably falling for and don’t even know it.

Here’s where I need your help. What questions do you have about web hosting? If you already have a hosting plan and there’s something that you don’t understand, I want to make sure I answer it for you. Thinking of getting your first hosting account, or looking for a better deal? Please leave me your questions below and I will be sure to get them answered for you in this report.

  1. Hi John,
I like this idea of keeping it simple. A good way to build your clients and list I think. I’m trying to do something similar on my site…not a lot of success yet.

    • Hi Richard,

I took a look at your site and you are off to a good start. Start writing about things you are knowledgeable with and that will really get the ball rolling.

      Cheers,

      John
